The HHHTA recently celebrated 50 years as an AFT-recognized union. The fabulous celebratory party was held at Edgewood Bar and Grill’s party room…aptly named, The Other Room.
The event drew an amazing turnout of over 100 members, both teachers and paraprofessionals. Members from different buildings enjoyed connecting with each other and members within the same building spent the night reconnecting as well.
HHHTA president, Rich Haase, helped set the tone for the event by recognizing the different groups and members who had and continue to make our union great! Past presidents, executive board members, committee chairs, office staff, etc. were all recognized for the support and dedication shown throughout the past 50 years to help shape our union and make the HHHTA what it is today!
The atmosphere was filled with excitement throughout the event as raffle tickets were distributed and many gifts were won. Sunquam’s very own Nicole Kelly was the grand prize winner of a huge Long Island themed basket filled with lots of LI-based goodies (snacks, clothing, etc.).
The highlight of the event was entertainment provided by the talented Bus Duty Band. They played many favorites, as well as some original music. As the celebration wound down, I can honestly say that this celebration was one for the books!
