Professional Council Inspires First Districtwide Read

Humphrey was scampering about Half Hollow Hills this past month and the kids went crazy!!! Every child in K - 5 read The World According to Humphrey, and were eager to share their thoughts and feelings about the book. Schools had scavenger hunts, trivia quizzes, and  Humphrey even visited some of them during this exciting event. What a wonderful way to bring the entire district together.  Children from Paumanok were able to talk to those from Vanderbilt about this witty and curious character.  Many students were thrilled to read other books in this series.  Some were even fortunate enough to receive a free copy. We are all wondering what book will be coming up next year.

This year, HHH hosted an elementary Districtwide Read for The World According to Humphrey and a middle school Districtwide Read for Fish in a Tree. Special thanks to Maria Lennon (CW) and the rest of our Professional Council for the vision and enthusiasm to make our first Districtwide Read such a great success! -Richard Haase
