Regardless of the type of ENL instruction ELLs receive, co-taught or stand-alone, focus on language and content integration as well as carefully planned, purposeful collaboration between ESOL and General Education teachers must be a priority. One critical challenge teachers of ELLs face is to combine content instruction with academic language and literacy development. This highly interactive workshop will offer a range of examples and ample opportunities to practice language and content integration for K-12 teachers. Participants are requested to bring lesson plans or unit plans and instructional materials for which they will develop content and language learning targets as well as instructional procedures for reaching those targets. Teams of ESOL and general education teachers are urged to attend together.
Participants will receive a copy of Andrea’s book Collaboration and Co-Teaching for English Learners: A Leader's Guide
