IMPORTANT NOTICE-ALL EMPLOYEES
PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Effective January 1,
2010, both the Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) and the
Employees Retirement System (ERS) will have a Tier 5 Pension
Plan to REPLACE the current Tier 4.
The Plans have
SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE CHANGES BUT IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN THE
SYSTEM AND BE IN THE PRESENT TIER 4 PLAN.
The new tier 5 will
include a 3.5% contribution for LIFE (Teachers’
Retirement System)
and a 3% contribution (also for life for the Employee Retirement
System). Instead of being able to retire-without penalty at age
55 (if you have at least 30 years of service) you will not be
able to retire before age 57 TRS) or 62 (ERS). You can
AVOID TIER 5 if you JOIN NOW! IT IS NOT TOO
LATE-BARELY! Call our Human Resource Department @
592-3071 and they will IMMEDIATELY allow you to enroll in the
current TRS or ERS Tier 4 system-BUT TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!
ALL applications must be RECEIVED by the Retirement System
before we leave for Holiday Break. So PLEASE-DO YOURSELF A
HUGE FAVOR – JOIN NOW if you’re not a member. REMEMBER
THIS IS DEFINITELY YOUR LAST CHANCE TO JOIN BEFORE TIER 5
BECOMES EFFECTIVE ON JANUARY 1, 2010!

ESPECIALLY FOR ALL PARAPROFESSIONALS, SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS - BOTH
PERMANANENT AND PER-DIEM, LEAVE OF ABSENCE REPLACEMENT TEACHERS
AND CLERICAL WORKERS.
All regular teachers are automatically in the system and they do
NOT have to do anything. Again, if you’re NOT in a
pension system as of now - PLEASE CALL 592-3071 and JOIN
NOW. I PROMISE YOU THAT IF YOU LET THIS GO YOU WILL REGRET I

to All Members: New Civil Service Law:
You are entitled to 4 hours of paid leave for mammography and
prostate screenings. This time will Not be deducted from sick
days. Your time off for this must be approved by Kelly Fallon's
office.
