We want to welcome a new Health and Safety coordinator for High School East: Anthony Scorcia.

On January 19, 2006 the Health and Safety Committee met at the TA office. Our NYCOSH representative, Dave Newman, was on hand to discuss air quality in our schools. His presentation was very informative and generated many questions.
Every meeting and discussion we have gives our health and safety reps more input on potential problems, and more strategies on handling issues effectively.
If you have a question, direct it toward your health and safety rep.

Many times staff fill out work orders in their buildings to have items addressed that need repair. Many times the response to these items takes longer than we would like. Obviously these items are prioritized and what is deemed more important is addressed first.
Please be aware that if the work order you fill out requests work or repair of an item that you consider a health and safety issue to you and/or your students you should consider involving your health & safety rep.
The health and safety committee has generated a form that reports situations directly to your building principal and central office. If it is determined to be a health and safety issue, the response time will change dramatically. Taking this step may, in fact, help avoid a more serious consequence.
